Overview

The Literacy Council is a non-profit organization, and we provide our services free of charge through the efforts of a small staff, volunteer office assistants, a volunteer Board of Directors, and volunteer tutors.

Sandy Lovett - Executive Director

Sandy earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from Austin Peay State University, with a double major in Biology and Health and Physical Education.  She graduated Magna Cum Laude with a
Master of Arts degree in Administration and Supervision from Trevecca University. 

Before joining LCMT, Sandy had a career in education in which she held the positions of teacher, Vice-Principal, and Principal.

Georgette reed - assistant Director

Georgette received a Bachelor of Science in Education from St. Francis University in Loretto, PA. She received her Library Certification from Trevecca University. After being a classroom teacher for nine years, Georgette was an elementary and high school librarian for nineteen years.

One of her favorite quotes is from Kofi Annan: “Literacy is a bridge from misery to hope.”
